COLLECTOR GUIDES

Make the details easy to see.

A repeatable set of photographs makes a collection easier to catalogue and compare.

01

Choose a simple setup

Use a plain background and soft, even light. Photograph the front, back, sides and visible labels. Keep the camera approximately square to the surface when you want a legible reference image.

02

Give details their own frame

Take separate pictures of controls, connectors and visible wear. Include a ruler beside the object if scale matters, without covering a label or scratching the surface. Do not retouch damage out of documentation photographs.

03

Name the files consistently

Use your inventory number followed by a view label, such as CS-001-front or CS-001-label. Store an original-resolution copy and make smaller exports for sharing. Check reflections and background details for private information before publishing.
